Hi guys.

The idea of this piece is that an assassin has shot the girl in the head with a love shaped bullit which will make her fall in love with him. I have slightly blurred the elements to give the piece a look of motion. I feel I need to include some background elements to make the piece more exciting.

I was maybe going to draw some vector palm trees and blend them into the background to give the picture a beach feel to go with the warm gradient backdrop.

Could anyone suggest anything to make my piece fuller?

Well, first off, I'd suggest more consistent arrangement of your design elements.
The target sight with the heart will send that bullet through her hair, not into her head. Additionally, the gun isn't aimed anywhere in the direction of the target or her head, and looks to be angled to shoot about a foot in front of her face...

The background, with the scratchy orange marks by the shooter, as well as the light scratchy marks in front of the woman look contrived, and add nothing to the composition. You have too much negative space, and should either fill it with a background, instead of scratched colors, or enlarge/move closer the subjects and crop the excess space.

I'd also put the woman at a more severe angle, as if she's been hit with the love bullet, and momentum from the force is moving her. Her hair gives that sense of movement, but she is too upright to justify it.

Hope this helps some.

Hi cybrgfx.

You've made some good points. The gun target I have intentionally placed above her head as I didn't want it to obscure her eye but maybe I will make it smaller and move it. You are right about the perspective of the girl and the gun. These elements have been taken from filtered from seperate photographs so the angles don't sit well together. I cannot draw traditionally so I think I'm stuck with these angles. Is there a function in Photoshop that would let me alter the angle of my girl graphic without having to redraw her.

I am trying to fix the negative space. I will probably make a street silhouette for a backdrop I think.

Will make some changes and post my WIP.

Thank you.

I was going to create a background silhouette using this background scene in this position. The background image is large so can be scaled or repositioned. Should I change it in some way before I begin?

You can adjust both the woman and the gun with the Transform Tool. Ctrl+'T'.
Hold the Ctrl key down as you drag a corner, and you can skew the perspective.
Hold the Shift key down, and you can change the scale as you drag a corner.
Move your cursor outside of the bounding box (make sure you have your "Scroll wheel resizes image zoom" checked under General Preferences (Ctrl+'K') before doing this, as you may have to resize within the frame to see the bounding box corners), and you can rotate the image on that layer.
Here's a quick PO in Photoshop to give you an idea of what you can do with the Tranform Tool:

Also, just on technicalities, did you purposely misspell "bullet?"
I can't picuture what you're describing about the background. Considering the positioning of the viewer, it better be a ground level, up close city background. Maybe a park with a picnic lunch on a blanket, maybe a back alley. You can take this in a lot of different directions.
