View Full Version : how to map a checkerboard to a dgs shader?

hi folks,

i have problems to simple map a checkerboard to the glossy channel of the dgs material...it doenst work for me (i am a newbie in mr) maybe someone has a tipp?

You're gonna hate me for this, but DGS is old as the hills. Use the mia_materials. You'll thank me in the morning. (Built in sections for everything including bumps, shadow and photon shaders built-in etc.) Any major reason to use DGS? Its glossiness can only be improved using the scene render settings (increases rendertime for the whole frame) while mia has the ability to render glossiness effectively without increasing the anti-aliasing for the whole frame.

thank you!

but it seems i dont understand the basics of mr shader-networks - because a checkerboard is not that complicated thing i guess. maybe someone has a hint - which problem i have to get it to work... (to connect a checkerboard to the glossy channel of dgs)

but i'll try the the mia shader right now ;-)
