View Full Version : Please,ctrl.studio with ctrl_buffer V3
ghostlake114 01-15-2008, 03:31 PM I am hoping there will anyones from ctrl.studio around here and could read this .
The Maya 2008 has been released with super lenshader mia_exposure_photographic, and It will be great If ctrl_buffer V3 could support this shader in buffer, that mean very important because this shader is not only a tonemapping but also a physical camera.
Also I hope the new version will have more feature, that decrease setup time, support mia_material_X (will be great If any chance could read their pass without making a store shader) also integrated better with 2008 and we neednt create user buffer frame, also a 64 bit will save many lives.... (and many things else )
...
Many thing could be imagine with ctrl_buffer V3 and I will jump like a crazy If see update of this version :bounce:

In the ctrl_buffer thread by francescaluce, around June or July 2007 Max from ctrl.studio has mentioned about ctrl_buffer V3.So I think It has been out now and with months from 2008 released, new feature of 2008 will be built in (sorry but all is my guess :) )

I suppose ctrl_buffer for Maya2008 will be released only after Maya2008SP1. Because Maya2008 have completely broken frame buffer api. So it will works only in SP1 (or patch03 that is not public).

so, maya 2008 sp1 is the incoming maya "2008.5"
wich have nothing to do with maya 2008 extension 1, am i right?
f**g marketing names :banghead:

Sorry, I have no any release date information.
I suppose it will be 2008SP1(9.0.1), like 8.5SP1(8.5.1)
If you need any patch or release information I suppose will be better to ask Autodesk support.

What exactly do you mean the api is broken Puppet? Using the buffer_store shader seems to give me passes from the mia_x material, granted i only started looking into it yesterday just because i heard all these rumours about maya2008 having broken the buffer system so didnt pay to much attention to maya2008 since that made it completely useless for us. But then i came across a short document on render3d.de that said that it was in fact working, gave it a try and it seems to be working fine? Havent had time to comp the frames together yet, so is the output actually corrupt, cause it seemed just fine to me?

I mean creating buffer from mental ray API (from geometry shader), but not from Maya GUI.
I mean functionality of ctrl_buffer_write and ctrl_buffer_api.

The ctrl_Buffer only run in 2008 If we create a user buffer frame from render global. Or It will give you nothing :)

I guess you didn't get Puppet's comment, which makes perfect sense:
"I suppose ctrl_buffer for Maya2008 will be released only after Maya2008SP1. Because Maya2008 have completely broken frame buffer api. So it will works only in SP1 (or patch03 that is not public)."
so no need to bump until it's fixed.

the 2008 SP1 has been released with quite much fixes, so I wonder if the "broken buffer API" has been fixed and we may have chance to access a new buffer shader
Sorry If I *BUMP* this thread too much, but I guess many around here share the same thought as me
