View Full Version : Lighting Problem....
Emberghost 04-26-2003, 01:18 AM Hello, in this picture I have created a spotlight outside shining into my pathetic excuse for a window with the light being visible/volumetric. As well as a light above in a sort of lamp style. But my problem is how do I get rid of that weird lighting going on the wall behind the martini glass and the cup. The scene was fine until I added the cup, glass, and dish. Sorry for this beginner question, this is my first attempt at radiosity as well as an indoor scene. Thanks ahead of time for the replies.......

If you can post a file someone might be able to tell you.
It would probibly be easier that way.

it looks like you need to increase your min and max settings a little and also increase the number of samples for your radiosity. but that's just guessing.

I raised the min and max to 50 to get this...It made the unwanted light effect go away even more but now it seems to be even stronger.
Stab in the dark here but I think it could be your reflection or luminance in the glass shader on the Martini glass itself.
It aint pathetic :)....everyone starts somewhere give yourself a break dude
Stu.
yeah thats my guess.
The glass its self.
and if you really have the time maybe try removing the galss from the scene to see what happens.
alot of times problems like this are the simplest things that you over look.

dunno about the glass.
but on the light you look like you have noise set to both (correct me if i'm wrong..guys)...i would personally just set it to visibility...the illumination part is making a pattern on the floor...and probably on the wall....also if you got dust setting on in visibility tab on light drop that from 100% down to about 80%..say 10% dithering...sample to about 22m and brightness play about with....give that a try...things like this i have had more luck with parallel light instead of spot...also worth adding a little bit of dark blue maybe another light..rather than all black and white...again all a question of choice...
that scene could be a cracker so keep at it.
Oooh and i just decided policy on CGTALK....(errh sorry mods)...there ain't any dumb questions we are all learning..

Thank you for your responses, it was infact the glass texture that was doin something weird. I changed that and rendered it and now this is where I am at. This is my only truely real c4d scene so Im not sure what else I should add to it to make it look a little less dull. But I want the gloomy sort of feeling to stay with it. Thats why I kept that overhead's brightness to a minimum to where you could see everything but still pretty dark. O I am using c4d r7 by the way.....:buttrock:

There was an interesting topic a while ago about creating good interior lighting with just a single light (and of course radiosity).
People got really good results :).
window light topic (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=53611)
I like it its got real feeling. personally I like the gloomy look.
all you have to do is add a empty bottle of pills and someone slumped over dead on the ground and you have all the gloom in the world justified.

And on that note how do I import Poser 5 models into c4d r7.0 ? I knew how to import them into bryce 5 if there are any similarities but I also heard you need a plugin to import? and if so can someone please give me the link :p
Ask about on renderosity.com the folks in the C4D forum there would know.
Renderosity is pretty much just a poser forum anyway. from what i can see.
