View Full Version : Weird Shadow Pass
NeptuneImaging 01-14-2008, 10:09 PM Hi, I am working on my shadow passes, but for some reason, I am getting very bright shadows instead of the normal black and white clips... has anyone ever seen this kind of shadow pass before? I rendered this from MR with the shadow shader and for some reason, I am getting an extra ambience where it should not be. Is there some sort of way to get the shadows to look correct
thanks
here is the render

invert it.
This image represents the amount of shadow in each pixel, where "more shadow" is white and "less shadow" is black. It's the opposite of the amount of light in the scene.

you can use it as a matte

you can use it as a matte
Like in After Effects, I can go to my shadow image and go to Effects>Channels>Set Channels>and set the RGB to the Alpha channel...
And I found that it was the tone mapping that made my shadows brighter. I would have to make the black parts of the pass darker with levels.
