I like the mood. But let me try and crit you a little. I am actually taking a Matte Painting class right now from Carolyn Green (From ILM for about 15 years). From my monitor, it looks a little too dark in spots. I know it is a night scene, but maybe put a little detail back into the closer trees or bushes.
You did a great job on the ground, those bricks are really nice, and the shadows fall pretty accurately.
But another thing I see is the lights are glowing and seem a little blurry. Try taking a little more time, and putting the light source inside the glass, instead over it.
I am impressed that you did this in about 2 hours, you did great work for moving so quicly.

I agree whit dmcgrath about that you have some very dark spots maybe it is taken from photo reference but you have to think as a cinematographer how should you make your shot looks nicer, well maybe brighten a little bit those dark places and adding certain detail that tells the audience that it is really a dark night whit out doing it dark , everything is really great , maybe you should add a little blue in all the scene, just a little tint

Nice Mattepainting.. :]
is it a paintover? not trying to flame you or bash you, just curious because if not, you matched the scene amazingly well. If it is, then good job with getting the mood. If its done completely by hand then wow :)
Yes, Cole, it's a paintover. Some details are created, mainly the stones and the paving stones. Unfortunately I can't entirely create a painting like that.

Very nice matte paintings you got there, my only crits have allready been pointed out....I like that you actually turned a day scene into a night scene, with two images like that it is easier to compare and comment on... Good work
Keep it up
Dareoner : It's a personal work, but if I can sell my matte paintings one day, I will be happy ;)
Thanks PoPpin and CGmonkey, I would be slower on my next matte painting, there will be perhaps less errors :)

i love it
i think all that black is very theatrical, i think it would work like that on a film which was perhaps a little more fantastical
Absolutely, it was a fantastical atmosphere which I wanted, without
making the street unrealistic. Thank you to have noticed it ;)
