This is my first time to post in on the CgTalk, so go easy on me.

This is my first girl that I have done. Some of the facial features are hard to pull off. If you see anything that looks bad, you tell me...

Here is the concept art. It was done by Andez Gaston.

Thanks

it's coming along nicely but you could improve it much more. in the sketch she has like a doll body ("perfect" curves) and your mesh is not quite like that, you could make her face look more feminine - and her nose is a little awkward...and your mesh has a lot of triangles too,get rid of them!!!her hand looks flat but maybe it's just the angle...besides that it's really nice!the proportions seems right to me

Nice modeling, but i agree with the sword handle, unless there's a specific reason, that's not exactly a real looking japanese sword gaurd.

These are:

the modeling techniques are still very nice...

model is comming along nicely! GJ...
I tend to agree with knoxville crits about the char body/face and that u should make it look more like the consept, but everything else is excellent. keep it up!

Knoxville:
I did some work to the face and got rid of some of the tris and tried to make her look more feminine but if you think that there is any thing that I can do to make here look more feminine, tell me:D
I did some work to the nose, but I don’t see how that I can make it look better than it is. If you have any suggestions, tell me please...
I will go in and make the body more doll like. On the hands, all that i have made before are men hands, so it was hard to get the skinny look, so I will spend some more time tiring to get the female look into the hands.

The guard that I did was off the top of my head, a bad place to come from, and I had not looked at any reff. Stuff. I will go back in and rework the handle to give it a better look than it has.

Here is the wire that I have now...

Looks good.

One thing that makes the character look weird though is that she doesn't seem to have much of a ribcage. It seems to be way too flat and compressed, and in the back it looks confusing where the cage & shoulderblades should be (they seem to be blended into the same thing, which is weird).

Hope that wasn't too harsh :)

Cool stuff though.

did some work to the back....

what do you think

It's tough to please everyone but I think the axe is a little too manufactured and modular looking for me. (Almost like it was cast in a mold which I would think would take strength away from the blades. Weren't most if not all weapons forged? [forge, hammer and anvil]) Otherwise, I think you've done great work overall. I like the detail on the katana guard too. Great work!

I really like this model, it's coming along nicely.

If you are still trying to make her look more feminine in the face, I would suggest you take a look at her nose, eyes, and chin. While your most recent smooth render looks nice, I think the space between her eyes is too wide, and they are too close to the sides of her head (from a straight-on view). Usually, you have one eye-width from the edge of the head to the beginning of the eye, and one eye-width between the eyes as well. Tweaking this a little one way or the other will give her more personality, maybe that's what you're going for, but you need to keep it really subtle or it looks unnatural.

Her chin, as well, seems too tall to me. I can see this on a woman of Scandinavian descent, but asian women tend to have much smaller chins, and more overbite (the jaw is shorter and the lower lip tucks under more).

The third thing I notice is that the head seems too small for the body. Perhaps this would work on a man, but women's bodies are smaller in proportion to their head. Perhaps increase overall head size about 10 to 25%. I think the head might be too tall for its width, too...

Other than that, cool! :)

Heh heh, I forgot to address the foot you showed.

It looks very close, but I am sure you feel that there is something not quite right with it. I think it's the smaller toes. They seem slightly too long for me. I have seen long toes, but not that long, and they are usually thicker as well (for stability :) )

Also, the top of your foot might be slanting down too far in the wedge that ends on the pinkie toe. Feet are actually pretty thick, what with the fat and muscle, and yours seems to get too slender on the outside, making it look more like a hand. See what it looks like thickened up a bit and the toes thicker (taller, more than wider).

Also, check the area where the top of the foot meets the ankle/shin. There is usually a bit more of a corner, mostly towards the center of the top. Also, even though the big toe dominates the tip of the foot, the middle of the foot curves up toward the center, like an arch. I was going to try to describe it, but it's too hard. Here's a quick sketch of what I mean (forgive the rough quality).

Also, I think your ankle bone should be much higher. Check my sketch, I think I got it in close to the right place...

Jellyfish:

I did some work to the feet, but I don’t think that they are where I want them to be. Thank you for the response and helping a guy who has spent way to long looking at a computer screen..

Here is how far I am now. Hope to go in and add some more fine detail to the whole of the model soon....

Thanks for all the help and I am still open for more.
