Hi everybody,

I'm now doing a project for my MA, and miserably need to know the theory behind rigging
robots and insects inside 3ds Max. So if you know any resources (books, tutorials or dvd's)

hey man honestly its gonna be hard to find somthing for exactly that but if you take a look at some good rigging dvd's such as the ones provided by lynda.com and also the masterclass dvd's preovided by descreet you'll find rigging is similar no matter what you do just watch some tutorials and and think about exactly how your creature/machanical model will work and then rig ass needed.. here are a few links to some helpful tutorials.
hope you find what your lookin for. gl in your searches

I'm very excited for that to come out Paul. Any idea on a general release date?

Hoood,
Mechanical rigging wise, there is a bonus chapter on the cg-academy dvd 'advanced modelling 2' that might be of interest to you:

Also Andy Murdock's 'Lots of Robots' DVDs have great tutorials that cover a lot of how he gets his crazy mechanical/insect creatures to come to life. I would suggest you check out his DVDs:

Thanks alot for the reply.. I was really searching deep in those links and tutorials that you gave me..

I was shoked by seeing "LOR" and how an artist could produce such a fully equiped
film alone by himself !! I mean I was only looking for a simple tutorials that explain robotic rigging, and surprisingly found a huge human well :) what a silly tutorials that am looking for :)

but it's just the beggining.
