Don't you get to charge them a load of money for giving up your domain name? :)

I don't know if you need to change your name--but you very well may--for your sake at least to differentiate yourself.

Cinefex has been the film effects industries leading magazine for like 20 years. I remember saving up enough money when I was 14 to buy the Empire Strikes Back issue--still have it!

Man that was like 23 years ago!!!!

Guess I'm getting old!

well no one has said anything about it thus far...and people know where to go! hmm...if it becomes a problem i will change it...but for now, people in the c4d community know that its a help site.

There probably won't be a problem - there are about 843,765 different Maxon sites around, after all, and they seem to get on okay. (including the infamous "Maxcrete" product, IIRRC)

don't get your panties in a bunch dude.

1. they arent gonna go after you unless you are, makinh money, or taking away their business.

neither of which I see you doing.

2. If they do go question you about it, which they will not. just say its for cinema effects, or make some other good reason why you used the name. As long as it isnt a total rip.

Which it obviously is not. Seeing as you didn't even know they existed.

You are pretty much in diffrent fields any way.

you are a beginner tutorial site.

they are a movie news site. its like the poetry journal and newsweek. Completly diffrent things.

they arent gonna bother.

The funny thing is I've seen your link to cinefex in your signature and I actually always assumed it was a link to the magazine.

Its not cinefex.com so should be OK.

Actually they are NOT a movie news site--your thinking of Cinescape.

CINEFEX specifically showcases film cgi effects. Mostly 3d animation techniques as used in films. Its been around for years and years and anyone who does cg work on film or televison knows it well.
