I made my first animation with voice actors. It was easy making everything in Maya and Photoshop, it was hard lining up the audio, and doing lip syncs for the first time ever. I had to composite and edit the entire thing myself. It was the most practical way to control the editing process. I wrote down a very primitive formula that worked right off. Here's an example of how I did lip syncs. The mouth blend shape is closed at the beginning number and ending number and opens at the middle based on what they say. So all you need to do is line up where the mouth should be closed, fill in the parts where it opens. This part is crucial! Make sure the FPS in Maya (3d software) matches the FPS in Premiere (Compositing Software) so the numbers will match up for lip syncs. So 30 FPS in Maya and 30 FPS in Premiere. If you are off in FPS adjust the formula to compensate. It's trial and error, there's not much in between, it will either work or fail.

Example: In the 3d software time slider

If I could do it over again? I'd get a more powerful computer for faster rendering, although for $300 the computer did exactly what I wanted it to do. It's my first full animation, and I learned how adding audio to your animation can really increase the value. The link is below.

usualy when syncing audio, you make blendshapes for how the mouth looks when saying certain sounds (A-E-O-U-...) and you line them up accordingly
