Got 8.0 two weeks ago and love it :)
I'm constantly amazed by what this program can do.
So far its helped me make an actual virtual prototype for a new product (which unfortunatly I can't so you).
Now that is done, spending my time playing and learning.
Hopefully attached is an image of a model I modeled in Rhino based on a firearm design from the Ghost in the Shell comic.
Re-textured and rendered in C4D of course.
I wish I had a way of posting a little animation I did while trying to learn Xpresso. Its of a "laser" carving out a path in a cube.
Simple but I had tried doing things like this in older software and was never able to. Did I mention I love this program?

have you updated to 8.1 yet? If you havent I would do that soon, its free anyway so there isnt a reason not to.

nice with that explosion FX thing you might want to try sturcture triangulate to make it a tad bit cooler.

but yeah welcome to the forum buddy.

Hi and thanks for stopping in.
Yes I have updated to 8.1 and even loaded the new boole plugin.
The explosion was part of an accidental animation experiment. It came out kinda cool so I'm trying to work it into a corporate logo type thing.

Welcome from another C4D noob. I share your feelings about Cinema, after struggling to make any type of organic shape in a different app, I'm amazed at all the options available. So much to learn, so little time...

Welcome to CG Talk and Cinema 4D (i am younger than you, got it now 4 days ago :applause: ).

I love the weapon design except the radial texture for the metal look. The explosion:  .

hey dg3d if you want that kinda explosion its a pretty simple recipe.

a sphere, a volumetric light with noise casting shadows, and the sphere in an EXplosion FX deformer.

just make sure to set the value of that deformer to something other then zero.
