Just to avoid any trouble later on, CINEMA was used only on parts of the movie. I know of no feature movie that was made with only one software.

Cheers

Am I the only one who doesn't know who this simon is that everyone is referring to?

let me tell you a secret.

you know the cloning area in Episode 2?

like not the troops walking around. but the big matrix like background thingy?

well that was done pretty much only in C4D my a man named simon wicker.

there is a thread over at postforum where he tells all about it,

maybe someone still has the link I don't know.

Simon did do some work on Chamber of Secrets.

Simon Wicker is a matte painter--he created digimattes for Gladiator and some for Episode 2 to name a few. He did all the background shot elements for the fight with Dooku at the end and for the backdrop of the clone troopers lining up in formation on Kamino.

Check out Cinefex magazine to learn more.

the list is growing, but the people doing the work isnt' really, I mean when you do the huge list of productions that had C4D involved in them, its either simon (which it is in this case) or Imaginary forces. Between the two of them they have worked on a fair number of movies. And within the c4d community, another that comes to mind is Phil, but he isn't using C4d for his feature work, he uses maya. I'm always glad to see it, and show C4D is capable, but at the same time we still have a lot of growing/expanding to do.

For those wondering Simon worked on matte paintings for HP2 I believe for the quidditch match, I was going to interview him on monday but have been falling behind because of other stuff.

still a poor movie though

it's true there are a limited number of C4D studios and freelancers working within the films industry. But I think the software is growing and garnering more of the sort of reputation that interests studios and professionals, and will get more of them using it for more high end work. give it time, it'll get there.

oh and.. in your oppinion gareth. i enjoyed it.

I've already watched it several times since I bought it last week. My daughter is a bit obsessed with it and my computer is in the same room as the TV. I like it--but the first one was better.

I don't think its realistic to expect to get a job in a studio using C4d. But its perfect for a freelance career. You can create whatever you can imagine and the client never cares what software you use. The film industry isnt the end-all be-all of 3d animtion--there are lots of opportunities these days for a good 3d artist.

Is there anybody outside, who knows which parts of the film (chamber) are made with cinema? That would be nice, if we could know this!

I have the particular issue of Cinefex. C4D is mentioned in a single sentence-and it was not alone. The quote found on page 65--

Begin quote--
Backgrounds were also created from rough 3d geometry in Electric Image or Cinema 4d--
end quote

The shots were for the Quidditch match. They did not break down the shots.
