I see this effect everywhere, but i've never figured out how to do it. Does anyone know how to make the yellow squares seen in the backround fade out (not in opacity but in size) while maintaining a gridlike pattern as shown?

Thanks

Piece o cake. :) Basically you can take any shape / image that goes from black to white (gradient) and apply the filter --> render --> color half tone to it, setting the screen angles to all the same, and set the size of the largest "dot" That should be it, recolor afterwards however you want and your all set. edit: it only works if the layer is full -- there are a lot of tutorials out there, just do a search for half tone tutorial.

It's faster and easier to create a new alpha channel, copy+paste the pic in it and apply the halftone effect. That way you avoid setting the screen angles.
As SoLiTuDe said, there are thousand of tutorials, sometimes this stuff is also called 'polka dots'.

Piece o cake. :)

I sort of figured as much. I'd seen it so many times, I'd just never known the name.

Thanks for the kind replies!
