View Full Version : Two Mucha inspired Posters
Ognus 01-11-2008, 02:43 AM This first one is a bit rough at the bottom due to a last minute change. I inked it. The business planning committee wanted to make some art advertisements featuring a gypsy. The monkey was my idea.

The second one, however, is just my pencil work colored. Which one is better? Pencil with soft scurry like lines or ink with hard darker lines?

Thanks for looking.

These are lovely!
She does have awfully big feet, though...

I tried to make her feet a little bigger than her hands. Guess I went too far? Also, it's funny you should say that, because my last illo a friend commented that the feet were too small. Maybe I over-compensated on these ones eh?
Thanks.

It's not the length, so much as the width. They look like hobbit feet. The foot is a wedge shape, with an arch beneath, and a flat part, which are the toes. You have the wedge shape, but you have it too large, with the toes part of it, and too small an arch beneath it. If you adjust the top of that wedge shape to flatten at the base of the toes, you may find the foot a bit short. The size of the foot should be approximately one head length, which you are close to. It's the toe and arch that make it look large.

Hi, Ongus!
Cool stuff. I went to a mucha exposition once without knowing to much but I fell in love. Still need to try that style for myself though... I am afraid only that it won't come close enough to the real thing. just like your personal style shines through here pretty strongly.
I think the pencil looks better.. though differences are only subtle.
I do not like the bevel on the second swirly lines though... I think a line would do better. And I miss some richness... in jewelery and nature, something that all art nouveau had. Be more baroque!
Nice to see this... thanks for sharing!
