Aggreed, the car is perfect, however the background looks like a simple plane with some trees. I could see this with some nice clips, add a displacement!

I will try to fix the enviroment, I will redo it as soon as I have some free time, currently working on short for a schoolproject so my time is really gone for other projects.

beautiful idea and the composition of the picture

This work shows one of my dreams, to drive and good old mustang on a desert road. Not any road, the legendary Route 66.
Composited in Maya, rendered in Maxwell and small color corrections in Photoshop.
Comments are most welcome!

Two things:

1. I think you could make the connection to Route 66 more visible. They have these signs every once in a while along it.. don't remember how frequent though.
Both painted on the road (like here: http://www.tauzero.com/Route66/Pix/Day01/Route66Road.jpg)
or the road signs in the same shape. I saw them with black text on white, black text on yellow and white text on brown. Might be more variants.

2. It's a bit dark

Route 66.. Been there, done that.. Some parts are great scenery.. most parts are just boring.. boring... boooring.. long straight roads with absolutely nothing going on..
What I remember most vividly is all the mini Pripyats.. abandonded gas stations.. deserted small villages..

Thanks alot for the constructrive critisism! Since I havn't seen the road by my self I just did what I could imagine it to be, just alot of empty space, some dead trees and a abandonded city once every 200 km. I will redo the enviroment, get a displacement on the road, do a texture with the "route 66" like you showed on the image, it was truely inspiring! Maybe even make a abandoned gas station if I get some more time. :bounce:

about the darkness, it was to create a feeling of a sunset in the clouds. But I can make it brighter.

A little side note is that when you are on the parts that has been decided as scenic, the road signs are brown with white letters. As I remember, it also says "Historic Route 66".
I think you can google it up.. otherwise let me know and I'll try to find you one of my pics with it.. ok?

An abandonded gas station is a good idea.. but since that's been done before, you could try to do a post office, shop.. whatever instead.
