Thanks for the C&C from the WIP. Still working on other 2 shots to complete the Full version of the Demo Reel. The shot is 30 Sec, with almost 2.5 min of breakdowns.

Hey!

Beautiful work there!

What did you use for the Motion Capture portions?

Excellent presentation, I enjoyed it!

I was one of shawns first students so I know the hell you're currently going through. First thing is you're using the maya renderer right ? See if you can talk one of the tech guys into letting you install the new free menta ray renderer. With access to the machines that you have access to there's no reason to not be doing an hdri light based setup.

Nice work on the aniamtion/rigging although I thought the butt's could have been a lower to the ground. Finally remember what the focus of your animation and of your shot is. It looked like you spent a lot of time on the guys pulling the rope when they were not really distinct in the res you rendered at.

All in all great presentation and I look forward to seeing the final.

Thanks for all the C&C...

Bischofftep: The Mocap...I used some files that our Vfx instructor gave to me. As my project need them...

Lorecanth: Thanks for all the info...but we were able to use Mental Ray, but it keep crashing every time. Those ropes were a real problem for the overall render. I did some test with HDRI but for this exterior shot normal Directional lights was good enough. And both the pulling natives, ropes, and the structure were important for me. "Its all about the Visual Noise" as Shawn said. Even the mocap guys are there for a important reason...Thanks.

I hope I could finish the other 2 shots with the Scholarship 2 month extension.

Hmm thats rather odd I've been using mental ray for maya now for 3 or 4 months, havne't had it crash once even when doing some really really heavy scenes. The only thing you have to do is never hit the preview render but just use the batch. Also some of the shader code is annoying but then you can just convert to file.

Also going over the scene it would have been near impossible to get an hdr probe to light that, oh well. If you can't do it the easy/b*tchy way cheat :D

Looking forward to seeing the scholarship final.

I love how you explain everything with your breakdowns. I only a 30 sec shots, but you can tell the amount of work and detail put in every frame.

Is this really how they did it...the sledge, the pulling?

Nice job!!!

Lapsus: I am glad you did enjoy it. That was part the objective. Pick one of the theories of the mistery and recreate it.

KWAK: Thanks! It took like 6 month since I look for the first reference, but I had to learn Maya during the process. :wip: :wip: :wip:

Wonderful work Felipe!

Your piece is really impressive on so many levels-- I really like the theme, the design and admire the technical execution. It is so fun to watch and each time I see something new. Professional presentation, the breakdowns are really informative and a pleasure to watch visually.

The music is so perfect too!

Great job.

You are genius, :D I really love your shot here, Well, i love the background music too,
tow questions here,
1) Maybe the sculpture should move a little slower?
2) How about try to add some deep attrition sound effect into this clip?

Anyway, You guys did cool work, Well done, Hope to see more.

But I don't think that is going fast. It look ok to me. And manutara already told that it is not the final sound.

facial: GENIUS...I don't think so, but thanks anyway:D

Lapsus: thanks for explaining. The music is from a group from Rapa Nui (easter island) called Matato'a. They have a WEBSITE (http://www.matatoa.scd.cl/)

Remi: Thanks a lot:bounce:

I am new here and I been looking for something like this for the last weeks. I'm from Italy and I love ancient cultures. I was thinking in Mayas, or Egipt...but your shot has inspired me. You can tell there is a lot of research behind this...isn't it?

I am just sick and tired of HDRI Cars and nude girls.

This king of work should have more screening than so many others.

I send you an email. Hope you can help me.
Keep this kind of work...don't go for the cars:shame: :shame:

love the theme of choice, i was at ur grad screening, the only thing i see wrong with your piece (in motion is those logs on the side, they were really distracting and out of place) maybe if it was desaturated a bit more so it blended more with the grass, or have even more grass over it. :)

thumbs up and good job :applause:

Your work is absolutely wonderful, so much details to handle, but you made it.
I like the way you are showing your strategy on creating the demoreel. All the steps make sense, there is not missing any important information.
The music is perfect for that scenario. Great atmosphere.

That was really nice Noryx!!! I really appreciate your comments. That was the whole idea of my project, recreate one of the many theories that try to explain how Rapa Nui (Easter Island) natives where able to move and raise those huge stone statues. And I used the Breakdonws of the shots to explain the research I made on the theorie that I picked to work.

Thanks again!
