Hi all,

I'm having some problems with the new object to object baking (OMGYAY) that Blender now has.

I'm trying to bake the AO from the one mesh to the other. Now that odd wedge on the top back, that looks like my geometry's too close together, I think? So my own fault on that one basically. But that side panel is the real oddity. It's built just about identical to the top panel, but it doesn't want to bake right, and I can't figure out why. Double sided is unchecked, so it doesn't seem to be the normals. And the far side of the model is seperate while I do the bakes, since it overlaps on the uv.

Any help would be MUCH appreciated, this is preventing me from putting these amazing new features to use.

have you concidered that the overlapping of the uv's is perhaps the problem?

or the other , but less likely possibility is that the objects are not at the same position at the time of the baking?

None of the uv's shown in the pic are overlapping - the mirrored faces are in a seperate object so that they don't cause a problem. I apologize if my wording on that wasn't clear.

I only have them apart to illustrate the problems in the texture, but they occupy the same coordinates for baking. Sorry, I should have mentioned that in the first place.

Just wanted to bump and share what I found, after three days of smacking my head against the wall.

It would seem Blender doesn't like baking non-manifold geometry. Or at least, I connected the problem areas to the mesh and it baked them no problem. So maybe just in certain cases.

hmm.. thats weird, i think you might concider reporting this to the bug tracker.

remember to give the developers as much info as you possibly can, and a reference .blend file that reproduces the problem, would be preferable. :)
