View Full Version : TP-problem (again) particles don't stop

okay, here's the following setup:

i have an emitter, which emitts two different sizes of particles. they are supposed to be something like 'spilled beans' (they come out of an open box when it falls over)

everything works fine. the particles get reflected by the floor and don't collide with the box itself. the only problem i'm having, that they never stop moving. i mean, they come to a hold on the ground pretty soon because of gravitiy, but they never come to a total hold. they bounce up and down in one place and when i assign a 'p roll' (hope, i translated it right) they never stop rolling.

i'm still new to TP and don't seem to be able to find my mistake. can some genius of this forum help me?

(and just to warn you guys: in the end, i want four different particle-sizes to fall out of this box and i want them to collide with each other. so i might be back with more problems ;) )

you could add in a tp friction node, and with careful control over the particles life that should do the trick. alternatively you can use the particles life (age) combined with a tp freeze node to make the stop moving altogether past a certain age.

hope that this helps.

thanks mdme_sadie, i'll give the friction-node a try. i've tried the freeze-node, but the problem is, that all my particles are born in one picture (when the box falls over), so to freeze them would mean, that they all come to a hold in the same picture.

these are the moments, when i wish i would have the dynamics :)

Hi,
i would move the particles into a different group when the speed is below a given value. Then simply set the velocity for all particles of this group to zero and don't let them be affected by anything.
Hope this helps

thanks, srek, i'll give that a try. :)
