View Full Version : Cube, sphere, or other?
Goatfuzz 04-24-2003, 10:15 PM What's your preference? Do you find it easier to start with a cube, sphere, or some other shape when modelling? I was just curious, because I personally find it difficult to start with a cube and I usually use a sphere or other shape. What about you? :D

Funny... I personally find it difficult to start with a sphere... I usually use a cube or cylinder.

When modelling a face , I always start with a cube than smooth it once and take it from there

I usually start with a cube ; it is important for me to have as much control of the the geometry as I can on the out starts. A circle has more facets than I need.

Yeah, I usually go with a cube, once in a while a cylinder, but almost never a sphere.

To me it depends.
If I'm using ref pics I use a different shape according to the object in question.
When I'm just experimenting with no particular purpose and am modelling "just to see what comes out" I ususally start with a cube.
But never used the "advanced shapes" like the torus knot, or spiral or spring.
Best regards.
