Sormann you have found with "Theme Planet" what I like to call
"an original idea" (TM).

This could be a HUGE idea.

I can see from this concept a movie, games, toys, etc.

We should keep an eye on this wonderfull CG concept.

It could be the next "Jimmy Neutron".

GOOD WORK!

-Roberto

PS: When you finish your short, you have to present it to the SIGGRAPH animation committee.

Those textures are looking very nice, I especially like how they look dark and dirty it adds a very nice mood. Just a few questions:

How long is this short gonna be?

Are you working on this project alone?

And when is it gonna come it?

Great stuff man...I'm adding it to my favourites now

I have to say that your work is superb. Nice job on all aspects. What drug are you on, and where can I get it. Just kidding, I am sure hard work is the main ingredient.

Keep us posted on your additions to your site. I wanna see more.

It looks like he used Maya.

Looks great. I've seen the site before I always admired your work. You should think about doing some cartoon character creation DVD's for Maya. I would buy them.

nice work. only thing thats strange / funny is the fact, both characters (elephant & pig) have your voice :)

(endlich jemand der auch aus österreich kommt und cg macht :) , hab schon geglaubt da gibts fast niemanden dort. woher kommst du? )

viel glück noch mit deinem projekt. ist mehr als vielversprechend und wird sicher ein hammer!

I only saw one of them (4 page paper by tomorrow at 7:00 AM and it's 9:30 PM :p Only wrote 2 sentences) but the animation and modelling is marvelous. I love how you not only personified the animals, but even if they were human, how much detail is in their personality. Their personalities don't seem flat, but complex. Great work! :applause:

Very good!
But I have a question. What 3d program did you use to create your world with its creatures?
And how did you make wordefull textures? How did you paste them so correctly onto your model?

Lots of question, right? :p

GREAT WORKKK!!!

i guess ill be the only whiner here... :)

i think the dialog between the pic and elephant like dood is bad. it seems to me like the words are there only for the sake of the animation, not for the dialog.

and when the professor jumps into the robot it starts walking too soon i think, instead of starting up first or something and then walking.

otherwise this is very nice. i think these words are justified due to the high level of the creator :)

HOLY SHIT- well I have my goal and role model to work towards.
your work is the freshes I have ever seen, that giant robot is hard-
the only thing I don`t like is the voice actiong I know its you and your probably maried to it, but if your going to put so much wonderful work in into this you owe it to yourself to get some decient voice acting, (and mic)- I bet millions of voice actors would donate their free time to work on this.

04-25-2003, 10:00 AM
Wow...Thanks for all the replies!!!
I am happy that so many people like my work...

Sorry for the voices but its not easy to get (good)voice actors...

Wonderful!

I haven't gone through all the posts but my only comment is the sound. I saw your comment about the voices though so I guess the topic has been up before. I think the quality of the piece is so beautiful it needs a professional sound image too. I agree that there must be people willing to help you out here!

Thanks again for all the nice replies as well as for the
constructive critique!

Ildragon: Thanks for moving this post to the right place, The short
I plan as a first step, is far from beeing done so I wasnt sure if it would fit in Finishied Work...

daredevil/gsuhy: Until now I work alone on this project in my
sparetime, and so the progress is a little bit slow...All you can see
on the page took me roughly 2 years by now... but I worked on some other stuff as well during this time...

Mcf: Hallo! Ich komme aus Wien, freut mich einen Landsmann hier zu treffen!

I used Maya and photoshop for most of the work...

I know that the sound FX are not very good by now( I did them all by myselfe as well as the voices) but a friend of mine promised to help me with that...He is rather good with sound...

I hope I will be able to upload the first updates soon

Wow great work!

Although not sure yet if I love or hate your use of rim lighting :)

sormann3d
04-27-2003, 02:11 PM
Yes I know... I alway overdoue alittle bit the use of the
sampler info node to create rim lights.
The great thing about that is simply that the shape of
the geometry gets much more supported because it creates
a kind of a light outline...
