View Full Version : After Effects And Soft .pic Help?
Bryant 04-24-2003, 06:24 PM HEYA,
I am currently having difficulties with trying to get after effects to recognize softimage .PIC files.
I have the Photoshop plugin but it doesn't seem to work with after effects.
Is there a specific plug-in for AE that I need to find? or maybe I'm putting the Photoshop SOFT.8BI in the wrong plug-in directory?
thanks for any help.
Bryant.

After Effects should read Softimage Pic files without that plugin. At least from version 4.1 and forward.
So remove the PIC plugin that you placed there from Photoshop. If that doesn't work I recommend that you reinstall After Effects.

No, because most Photoshop plug-ins work in After Effect just like they do in Photoshop. Place in the appropriate folder and you will have access to then in the Effects menu or the appropriate one. For instance, the Soft.8bi plug-in can be placed in drive:\Program Files\Adobe\Affter Effects x\Plug-ins\Standard\Format\
Then it SHOULD work.

hi
are you sure your files are valid? Sometimes xsi does a little trick in saving rendered images. the routine creates the .pic file with a size of 128 k, renders the image and then ... voila... forgets to save it.
Rerender and pray!
Best regards!

Never seen that before...ever.
I do have a side question.
Does AE also support the zpic format for the zdepth images?
Thanks

it does do the trick. surely does if a program (f.e.: a viewer) is keeping the file open.

Yes, it supports.
You don't even have to open it manually. If the .Zpic sequence is located in the same directory as the .pic sequence, AE loads it up automatically. You can edit depths by using filter (Extract 3D).
