Abstract is very difficult to pull off, and I feel like merely juxtaposing something will not cut it...I don't claim to know how to create abstract work, but there is something that makes it click. 99% of the time, people can not pull it off.
I have great difficulty thinking abstractly so I thought I would bring some humanity to the piece to at least make it interesting for me. When I am making art, I feel like if it doesn't have a human form or at least some sort of metaphor to it, I can not "get into" the image, no matter how "pretty" it may be. To me, that is where it stops, the image is nice to look at, but doesn't go beyond that. So with this piece I tried to make something pretty but something that will draw in the viewer to take a second glance, as if they were looking at a carnival mirror that distorts their own image.
