View Full Version : Best 3D Max Learning Book?
TMNT3D 04-15-2002, 07:01 AM Taking a look at some of the ones available on Amazon, and I'm not sure wich one is the right one for me. I'm basically looking for one on Character modeling. Something that explains modelling a character step by step, skinning it, and setting it up for animation by way of bones and skeletons...
I'm teaching myself how to create characters, and so far, this is one of the better ones I've managed to almost finish, but it's no where near proffesional...

You might want to check out Modeling a Character in 3DS Max
(http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1556228155/qid=1018856282/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_67_1/102-4310440-9692117). I flipped through this book at the book store. It's for low-poly models, but it still covers everything to make a complete character from the ground up all the way to mapping. It's easy to read too.
Otherwise, I'm not really sure what to recommend. Most books out there on Max are really similar. And it seems you already have the basics down.

I recomend you to buy more than a book:
inside 3ds max 4 of kim lee have a good tutorials about rinning , modelling and texture with max
3d studio max 3 profesional animation by new riders.
good concepts but for max 3
animatorīs survival kit is essential for a good animation
the technical concepts are not the most important.
Digital Character Animation 2 : Essential Techniques
Digital Character Animation 2, Volume II: Advanced Techniques
both of georgi maestri
general 3d character books and tecniques for all 3dprograms
