View Full Version : Duplicating PaintFX strokes: How To?
mirkoj 04-24-2003, 10:08 AM Is there any way to duplicate PaintFX strokes? I have some grass painted on a nurbs plane and I need to duplicate both. It looks like they are duplicated, I have attribute editor and everything of the new strokes but it doesn't render it. Is there any way to duplicate strokes and render it corectly? Thanks

Did you try share one brush?
select first the bad strokes then the good one and > share one brush.

I don't know of a simple way to do this( although there may be one ). You need to do a separate duplicate on the stroke nodes, and then manually reconnect them to the input curves on the copied object. Note that by default the input nurbs curve on surfaces are hidden, although they are copied.
You could also pick the curves on the copied object, and then do attach brush to curves from the paint effects menu. You may need to adjust the stroke sample density and random seed if you do this to get an exact match with the original surface.
Copying the paint effects strokes is a good candidate for a mel script( perhaps there is already one out there ).

I've done it. I just checked on Duplicate Input Graph in the Duplicate options and everythiong is OK. Maybe it's not the best way but it works :) Thanks

I'm guessing that you had the strokes selected when you did the duplicate. This will copy the strokes without the input curve connection from the node. One can group these strokes with the duplicated node so they are transformed with it, although morphing the duplicated surface or editing the control curves will not affect the strokes( if you need this ). Also effects like gravity on the tubes will not move the tubes when the objected is transformed( e.g. rotated ).
