i have been using RSMB in CS3 with no problems and now all of a sudden, any new file i use the plugin on, the layer it is applied to turns red! anyone had this problem?

I'm not aware of any problems... Have you perhaps switched to a different image format and bit-depth? The error sounds very much like it's misinterpreting a channel... Also make sure to flatten/ fill the Alpha chnanel for correct analysis results.

Not 100% sure, but I think I remember seeing that one after formatting the PC and reinstalling AE and just copying over the old plug-in folder without installing them individually... in short, it turned out to be a license problem.
Maybe check for that...

ok, I realized what I did wrong. I had chosen the rsmb vector effect on accident so nothing was working as there where no vector footage to use.

yes I have had an odd RED Screen before and I was not on 'Vector' mode and was in CS2
I was in the middle of a lengthy and quite large composition when RSMB was not working. I got a red screen - pretty annoying thing to happen at 1am!
I Purged all the buffers, closed AFX and then rebooted it up again. It 'appeared' to be okay - I have no idea if this is happy accident or a solution
