I love the design of the car ! Wonderful !
but it lacks some thickness, I mean we can holes between the different parts of the hull and we realize that it's made of simple surfaces. You should blend the parts or add thickness.
But apart from this I woud buy this car if I could afford it
i love those wheels! overall very nice. where are the doorhandles and tires tho :wip:
i dont really like the spoiler tho, more of a personal thing i guess but i would take it off.

well thanks guys,, I still have some design issues to deal with, but after that is done I'll flesh out all of the edges.

was thinking of a gas cap design the other day,, and well had to model it. I put my T logo on it (T=Turner) my last name.. hehe
I put them inside the wheels also.

Very nice...only gripe i have is the headlights...this looks like it is going to be a high speed vehicle, and those headlights are going to really add some drag...if your going to use the projector type of headlights, take a look at the design on the new Celica's...they have the same type projectors, but have the clear shell laid over top of them, kind of moulding to the contours of the lights...that would help reduce the drag that something like that would cause..other than that, its sweeeet! =)

nice nice nice :bounce:
just one thing, the wing at the back, is it bolted to the chassi at only one point (the center of the back) ?
if so remember that the function of a backspoiler is to give downforce, and a one point bolt will give lousy structure, the wing would probably flap like a bird in speeds over 40 mph and break soon after that. And since this car seems eeger to measure up with the big boys (maclaren and such) a double bolting on both sides of absolute center, removing the down curve on the sides of the wing and just go for a basic btcc-like wing instead.
Not that u need a wing on ths car... its absolutly awsome without one, a bit like a tripped out 406 cupe + TVR lovechild.
Cant wait to see it textured...
Ill include a pic of a wing and here is a place with more...

Stupeyfied- good point,, I was thinking that also,, bubble like cover would be cool.
eQvitas -
yeah I was thinking of using this wing,, maybe different caps on it. and move the support more outboard.
file deleted...
thanks guys

I just about fell out of my chair! :p
Now that wing kicks ass :D
With some hydrolics to adjust downforce from inside, that would be sweet.

new engine block,, only kept the heads from the older one,, hehe
got some dimmensions from various different V-8 motors,, I rounded the rumbers off to the nearest inch, So a Bore of 4 and a stroke of 4,, hehe well its all kinda basic form still.
Man I had to squeeze that thing in there, the crank and tranny and intake manifold were made to fit,, hehe,, the intake got the most squashing,,
anyhow there is that bigger motor,, better fire wall and some structural stuff.

anyone have good blueprints for a twin over head cam engine,, I think BMW made one,, with twin cam's on each side.
I I want to know the layout of the timing belt and accesories belt.
Gotta still make the cables and alternator to plop in there

great modeling :)
but the design seems old and this car doesn't appear to be a speed car cause to the air resistance huhu
too muche more artifices "the jacky' touch"
its my opinion ;)
EighthDecay
04-28-2003, 04:13 AM
and there is a problem with it being old school?
thats where Ive been getting my concept work, mostly retro classic,, I don't see much retro here,, but yes its clearly nothing exotic, thats not what I was after. wasn't designing it to go past 160mph or so,, think muscle car,, Mmmmm Muscle
thanks guys,,
oh Ptaverner,, those lights are so simple, I love it that way also. Been putting them on most of my cars lately,, kinda my common styling feature. nice to see you back into cars again.. :scream:
So back to hunting down for some info on this Engine-layout.

Got the nurbs imported,, using a trick I learned in rhino,, by exporting to a MAX3 IGES then re-importing it back into Rhino and saving it as an IGES once again,, but I noticed a few parts got droped,, will have to look the model over to see what MAX could take in. I only see the parts around the headlights missing at the moment.
yeah getting detail,, far more than I usually go.
http://www.vi2.com/getFile/141631.jpg
EighthDecay
04-29-2003, 11:26 PM
ok here is a crappy pic,, I messed up can you tell.. hehe,, I mirrored a piece of the nurbs,, looks like the whole body mirrored.
Max doesn't seem to be liking the nurbs,, So,, back to the basics,, 3ds files are gonna have to be the only way. With such detail my pc barely can do this,, after saving the MAX file it will not re open it. I'll just have to import it in as sections,, and group them in max.. so many layers to this..
I'll fix up everything in the mean time.

gotta still integrate that new headlight assembly. But got it into MAX as a mesh,, no more nurbs,, I optimized the mesh into 20 3ds files as different mesh resolution settings,, imported into max and Grouped each set and applied materials,, this method sure takes time,, but is worth it. render time 2.5hours lighttracer MAX5 GI :bounce:
Much to fix still,, forgot the spoiler and few seams need some work.. :wip:
I like that red red red paint,, might go back to that.

I love your model but that render is horrendous. The materials are pretty bad. I guess maybe it was just meant as a test render and not meant to be serious. The interior texture is all bumpy and brown and the car paint doesn't look right. Work on the materials and it will be great!
Oh, and I love the new headlights, they are much better than the original ones.
EighthDecay
04-30-2003, 10:13 PM
thanks karabo
yeah,, not to great yet,, trying to examine the model and fix those things first,, yeah my lumpy stuff isn't to great,, needs more tiling.
gonna add them head lights in tonight.
forgot them.. oops

hey Threedeemer, thanks a bunch, Yeah Cars are my main focus, its where i feel most of my creative energy works best. I decided a couple of years ago that cars were gonna be the my thing, specialize and maybe get some work in it. Finally that has happened and now I hope for a grand future in 3d car design.
I'll keep working on this bad boy,, so I have something of great detail. Just a personal goal.
thanks again.

yeah mine are 15months and 7 years old,, so I didn't really want them to be so close iin age,, but not a big deal.. we wanted to have 3 at least.
but hey thanks the car is creeping along,, I'm liking the orange,, so I'll get a front view tonight,, new headlights and all.
Kinda my own made up muscle car.

:shame: red! plz!
EighthDecay
05-10-2003, 12:33 AM
hehe thanks Maximus Groff,, red,, Umm well I'll get back to that color later,, it started out red as a test, I usually get tired of red really quick for some reason.
Just wait for that glass transparent version soon. after i get a few other parts made or installed on it. then you will be able to see springs and such.
Also also fix them rotors soon also,, the drilled holes in them are to big I guess,, anyone have some spec's of drilled kind,, guess I'll be searching for that soon, need to find the hole diameter.
:wip: I'll keep workin on it till I feel its done enough.
