Simulate DOF with AE

Is there a way to simulate depth of field with any plugins or built in things with AE for some footage?

I have some HDV footage Im going to downsize to DV, they are shot in 24p and I would like to simulate DOF, since I don't have an adapter for my HV20 yet.

Unless you are able to generate a depth map, that's not going to get anywhere. AE's own Lensblur as well as plugins such as Frischluft Lenscare require a proper greyscale map to function. For anything else you can get along with some masking and standard blur filters if only you apply it subtly enough.
