View Full Version : shadow problem
I am having a problem with shadows. when open my model in its own file I get perfect shadows but when I put it into my scene the model does not seem to be seen by the rays.
any ideas people?

No ideas at all, it could be a lot of things: light not casting shadows, the compositing tag, the shadows switched off in the render settings...
no compositing tags. defalut render settings, and the thing is casting shadows, thats what the blue is. I made the shadows blue so I could tell exactly what was a shadow and what was not.
the weird part is that some things show up fine in the pic. like the corners those are beveled toa really small detail so It cant be that the area is too small.

try changing the shadows to hard or to area, or increase the size of the soft shadows, maybe it will help
this is getting weirder I tried hard shadows and it didnt work so then I took an omni and put it directly in front of the model and turned shadows on and look what happens.
its like the model is totally flat
ignore me people I am the dumbest person alive. I was using a cube as a place holder before I imported the object and then forgot to delete it.
gahhh I feel stupid.
