View Full Version : Character: Unnamed
RavenX 04-24-2003, 05:15 AM Hey guys and gals,
I'm working on a semi-realistic muscular body, and I'm very new to the modeling scene. I'm trying to find the most efficient way to make this guy's muscles big and defined. So far, I've been messing around with spinning quads and reading a little on edge loops, but I'm just not getting it all when it comes to the body. Can someone give me some criticism and tips on how to fix it?
Thanks in advance,
Kellen (a.k.a. RavenX/KidVicious)
Here's a pic of the wireframe thus far.

I'm working on getting a scan of the character I'm modelling it into, but it may take a while to get it in. For now, I just want to work on the modelling of the physique.

I will add the head and hands soon. So far, I'm just worried about the general body structure.

It's pretty good as it is, I know it'll be attached later, but it is difficult to decide without all the proper limbs, especially the head because that's where we judge the proportion.
relatively speaking the muscles are well defined, maybe except the abdoment. To have those beefed up pectorals, its hard to imagine that the abs can be so underdefined... besides that the rest is in pretty good shape.

Thanks for the compliment, Diablo. Part of my problem is that I really don't know of a good way to make abdominal muscles in a mesh like this. the arms also throw me in how to make the bicep and tricep well. Do you know of any procedures that could help me?
the pecs are too hard edged and you really need to look at where the pec connects to the shoulder. Look at some anatomy references, especially the loomis books over at fineart.sk

The look is very chiseled out, almost rigid, comic book style... maybe make it less symetrical too, once finishing up???
Proportions looking good.

Cole- Yeah, I've been having a little trouble around the armpit/shoulder areas. Thanks for the anatomy link.
Demo, thanks for the crit. Keep 'em coming.

A little something new(above). Is there something else I should add(besides hands, obviously)?

Lookin' better. The only thing that I can think of right now is the shoulder muscles look too small. That and the muscles above the collar bone (can't remember what they're called) should be a little bigger.
