I've been working on this one for a while. I just managed to finish a logo for the SpaceJet, but I'm unsure how much more to do with it. I'm going to make a demo reel with this thing in a commercial. So if you can take a look and let me know how it is looking and give some feedback that would be grrrreat! (Sorry Tony).

Any suggestions for additions will be greatfully accepted. (I like brutal honesty).

Everything can be found here http://216.232.120.141/Spacejet/index.html

Thanks.

ROTFLMAO! <---------------And I never use that expression..

Dude, this is awsome!

Love the design, the defroster, and of course, the tiny little wheel.

This is great, man. Really. Post this in the gallery, and it just might get from page.

ROTFLMAO?

What the heck is that?

I never really thought of adding more "techy" stuff to the engines. Maybe I'll do some drawings. Maybe the "screen" can move forward or receed into the engine.

I'm trying to figure out what else can be added if anything should. It's a vehicle designed for Spaceman ZotŪ @ http://www.spacemanzot.com which is another WIP.

Having seen this work, I have to say that none of us will be able to add any useful suggestions. Certainly no critique. I should be asking you for advice. Keep it comin man. :buttrock:

That little wheel is.... IMHO, disturbing the whole thing..

If you are going for ultra-realistic flashy design , then this little wheel does not work...

for a jetsons-esque-with-ultra-shiny-materials is fun..

;) twisted!

yeah the littol wheel let me down, i thought it would be nice to have some landing skids come out of the engines and one out the back of the body just to keep it stable.

Landing skids. Never thought about it. My initial intention was for a wacky cartoonish type vehicle with a large twist into reality. So the typical laws of physics apply only when you least expect them. For instance, it can use one wheel to rest on the ground, but you have to peel your eyes off of the rear window if you really step on the gas.

A friend of mine was saying that I should put one of those steering wheel knobs on the steering wheel (of course). You know the ones that you usually find on big vehicles. Kind of quirky. What do you think?

By the way: where did you render your spaceship with? what program?

Lightwave 7.5 is what I used to model and render the SpaceJet. I've been using it off and on over the last year and owned LW since 98. So I guess I'm a newbie. I started to do some 3D illustration for clients in December so at least the program is starting to pay for itself.

The SpaceJet is created with SubPatch surfaces (MetaNURBs). The actual model body inside and out is only 1000 polygons but when I render I tell LW to boost the polygon count (subdivide the object on the fly) to a factor of 5. I guess that make it somewhere around 20,000 polygons (or something like that). I have a brief test render happening right now for 1 or 2 commercials that I'm going to create for it.

Does anybody have anymore suggestions for what I can add to the SJ? I love the response I'm getting so far.

Nice!

I love the style of this. Reminds me of something (http://www.spitfiremotors.com/sparrow.html) a friend was looking up the other day.

If you're looking for more stuff to add, how about a drink holder or some bumpers? You could even make it a convertible! :D I'd like to see the landing gear a bit bigger. I think it would have more impact and be funnier if it was more visible.

Also, where's the door? Does the windshield act as the door?

Great job!

I remember seeing one of those a couple of years ago in an issue of Eyewire magazine.

Ah yes, the drink holder and bumpers. The bumpers are something that I think I'll have to add on as an appendage. I don't think that I can model into the existing mes without screwing up some parts of it. EXCELLENT idea.

I have an urgent 3D project to get out that just came in so I'll have to get back to you on this one. Maybe tomorrow. I have to model and render an animation of an office that is being redesigned.
