Title: Gateworld
Name: Nick Jacoubowsky
Country: USA
Software: Carrara, Hexagon, Photo-Paint
Modeled in Hexagon and Carrara. Rendered in Carrara. Postwork in Photo-Paint. Critiques welcome.
.
All inbound traffic to Capitalworld is required to pass by one of the six Gateworlds in order to be security scanned. The rings are artificial, comprised of fluorescent particles whose color patterns can be controlled by ray projectors on the planet surface (there was an infamous episode when Byortz the Food Maker hacked into the projector control system and made the rings display "Eat At Byortz"--the bureaocracy was not amused). Besides conveying a sense of massive technological prowess and grandiose esthetics, the rings also aid in the scanning process. Nevertheless, the rings have fallen into disrepair ever since the economic downturn of 03D4750.
.
This picture was supposed to be a quicky, based on a painting I did about 15 years ago, but technical problems got in the way (my laptop died). I decided to give the spaceships a consistent visual technology in the same way that road vehicles have a consistent look (usually four wheels but sometimes more or less). Hence the basic T shape with the leading edge being perfectly straight, like a knife to cut through space.
