View Full Version : Bowling Knocking down pins
pureprplaya 04-23-2003, 06:40 PM I made a bowling alley with a lane, a ball and pins.
I have the ball following a path that I created to simulate a spin on the ball. I tried using a Rigid Body (reactor) and attached the Lane, Ball, and Pins to it to have the ball knock over the pins when it hits. unfortunatley the ball goes right through the pins. I tweaked the settings a bit and a few things happened. Once the pins began to fly all over the place but it happened before the ball even hit.
Please help me out here... I tried the tutorials but I didnt get a good understanding of it.
BTW excuse the floating ball, i thought i fxed that

I dont know what Rigid Bodyand is... If it is not a part of reactor u should try reactor :D
It can create some really realistic stuff

Thanks for your help.
messing with the setings some more I got it to look semi realistic but the collision detection seems off, when it hits the first pin all of them fly. I wish they acted more realistically

did you try making your ball "unyielding" in the properties rollout in reactor? im not sure if there were any other settings you could have changed to get the pins to react to the ball but checking that option should get your ball to collide with the pins.

Thanks TG that helped alot... looks much much better, Now im trying to make a basketball go through a hoop and a net but the net isnt swaying and I cant use a cloth collection... help if ya want, if not Thanks anyway :-D

Well I put the ball(Sphere) over the basket used a torus for the rim, I used a cone fore the net (turned into ed mesh) just took of the top and bottom so the ball can travel through.
I put a rigid body and attached the ball onto it
and a cloth modifier onto the cone but it wouldnt attach...
I putting the cone in the rigid body then onto the cloth but that wouldnt work either
