Title: Discovery on the launchpad
Name: David Winder
Country: Gibraltar
Software: Lightwave 3D, Vue

The Space Shuttle Discovery on the launchpad. Probably another NASA delay :)

I resurfaced the launchpad model to match the dull grey of its real life counterpart. The Space Shuttle model is a very accurate and detailed one which is also great for close up work.

As I was making an outdoor scene, I decided to render it all in Vue 6 xStream as I thought that would give the most realistic atmosphere and lighting.
I then settled on a dusk setting.

Wow, Vue appears to be making a comeback on these forums :)
I like it a lot. The enviroment is great.

But the cloud in the last render looks pretty dodgey. Also the shuttle in the first looks very plain, but maybe that's just the way the real thing is ?

Great none the less.
