This is actually a room from an entire walkthrough animation but the collage I made was too big for here so I just decided to upload my favorite room from it.
I was going for soft light.. why, I don't know. I just felt it ;) I'm semi-happy with the outcome but I have to do other things so I'm moving forward. Hope some out there likes it. Cheers-

Overall I enjoy the scene, however, there are several things that just don't look right to my eyes.
First off, the color of the walls and the and the tub are just way too washed out, I have never in my entire life entered a residential bathroom with paint colors like that.
Second, the candles on the left are too close to the curtains, if you lit the rear ones you would set fire to the fabric.
Also on that note, the window isn't a "bathroom" window, more akin to what you would find in a kitchen or living room, but not a bathroom.
Finally, the faucet and handles are way too skinny to be in scale with the rest of the setting, the handles especially, they're like little metal pencils, they appear as if they'd break the second you turn them.
I really hope you don't take this as anything negative because I think it's a nice scene and makes me feel "relaxed" so mission accomplished, but those mentioned above just stick out at me.
Very plain.
Lacks detail everywhere.
The tub hardware is very small compared to the tub.
More detail!
Tell story, no matter how shallow it is.

I take all crits as help except that one. I think you need to watch more design shows on TV or walk into a little more residential homes that aren't scared of color. I've seen far more exagerrated colors than this on TV and this same color in a magazine I got the concept from. ;)

Hi Kristopher Lee,
Your curtain is straing because see a mesh and shader is so and so... can you tell me how you create it? Can you post a shader of it?
My little Tips for curtain... here (http://www.treddi.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=29225&st=20) message of Nov 7 2006, 12:08 AM n° 25...
I try to translate here...
Create a plane with more segment... apply Noise or Wave
http://img482.imageshack.us/img482/8084/step01ly5.jpg
Yuo can move some vertex or delete any...
http://img391.imageshack.us/img391/1005/step02nb2.jpg
Now you can apply a Cloth and create a group for fix some point...
http://img384.imageshack.us/img384/1518/step03ez9.jpg
Then You can apply a Mesh Smooth or use subdivision, but you need to convert in editable poly... if you want shell for give a little tickness...

In link I show also a wind effect...
Bye bye

Hmm.. not sure what you're on about.
I created the curtain with a plane with many segments. Created some torus's... gave the curtain a Cloth and then grouped vertices of the curtain to the torus and animated the toruses so that they would create the waves and folds. You can see better curtains in other scenes on my site using this method. I do admit these curtains didn't turn out as well as I wanted them to.
As for the shader, its a simple vray material with a noise opacity map. I don't really like the curtain the way you described tho.

For Shader you can see this

In the withe slot of fall-off you can put the same texture of use in Opacity...
Now I haven't with me the shader if I use here (http://www.art2upz.com/Gallery_04.html), whene I find I can post for you, if you want...

Yeah your curtain material looks good but your room looks like the proportions are way off. The scene doesn't look very realistic due to the overly saturated color and lighting. And also, there should be some motion blur to the objects flying.

I think you need something to define the scale. Maybe just a change of perspective but right now it's kind of hard to decide if it's a basin or a tub. I think it's because you have the candles close by but nothing else to give away the scale.
The background image looks odd in a way. It looks like the camera was pointing towards the ground, which of course is ok, but it's not suitable in this environment.
I have nothing against the colours, allthough I would drop the photoshop blur layer. I think you can achieve a soft look without the bloom/soft/blur photoshop technique.

Thanks for the crits. I'll make sure to work on that in the next project. As for the camera part looking down, its not. That's a hill. If you notice, it's going up with trees up at the top ;) As for dropping the blur layer, I could probably tone that down some for sure. But I will tell you this.. I have a client that loved that crap. Called it sexy... go figure huh.
Can't please em all lol
