View Full Version : 2007 Reel
Aruna 12-31-2007, 05:49 PM Hello fellow compositors here at CGTalk. Just wanted to share my latest 2007 reel, below. It's an H264 embedded Quicktime, which should play on most machines. Enjoy!

Congrats Aruna, I'm sure your'pretty proud of that reel.... again..congrats!
Hal.
Great looking reel! At this level are breakdowns only necessary when a potential employer requests them?
Nice blog too, I don't know how I missed it but I'll be reading it from now on.

Thanks all! Hey ndog, I don't have animated shot breakdowns for these shots unfortunately. I have a breakdown sheet which I send with my reel to employers, similar to what's in my gallery (http://www.digitalgypsy.com/vfxlog/gallery.php), but that's about it. There's just not enough time to get time to make a breakdown, as the shots are usually offline. As well, these shots were pulled off the DVD, and not from work, so I couldn't even make a breakdown!

Hey Aruna, congratulations, I don't know anyone who wouldn't kill for a reel like that! Top work.
But I really miss breakdowns in the reel. It's pretty impossible to tell what you did on the shots.
I went to your gallery page to look at the breakdowns, but I can't get it to work in neither Internet Explorer or Firefox: the Quicktime thumbnails appear for just a few seconds, and then they disappear, and I can't click on the remaining text. :-/
Cheers,
- Jonas

Sadly, I guess I fit into the minority here. Crashes Firefox on me everytime. :(
Nice reel - shame there's no breakdowns. :(
P.S. Lovely blog and thanks for keeping up ur older reels - nice to compare!

Weird.. I troubleshooted with Firefox 2 and 1.5, and the menus collapse and expand like they should, and I can click on the QT link.. Try right-clicking and downloading the QT link, instead of just clicking on it. I think I've gotta redo that Gallery page, because it's possible that some of the page plugins may not work cross-platform. It does work in linux under Firefox 1.5, but I'll start troubleshooting some more later today.

I've added a link on the page if you'd like to download the reel and view locally, instead of through the browser. This might help.

Really an amazing reel, Aruna. But it would be nice with some breakdowns in the reel... eventhough you've created a very indept description of the different shots on your website.
Awesome work!

Very enjoyable indeed.
I will be sure to scrutinze the movies you worked more so now, now that I have the ability to point to a (albeit virtual while in this forum) person who worked on them, instead of the magic fairies I tend to think who do this kind of work.
