and finnaly...the only piece in the middle of so much crap that i really like

http://princefabio.tripod.com/pics/proudof.jpg

in my 6-year CG career i´ve only done trash like this

comments & suggestions would be apreciated to improve the models...

the face has some serious problems on the nose(an impossible vertex to extract) no to mention the lower part of the head that(should) connect to the neck and the ears(everything in resume)

spino also has some serious animation problems and i cant make a proper Texture for him

HEEELP!

Yeah, I also only get tripod logos...

If you want anyone to see your pictures, you should go back and edit all your posts and replace the pictures with some kind of direct links that work...

No-one is gonna go through the trouble of looking through the HTML code of this side, parsing out the picture URLS, just to look at your pictures... I think.

I dont think Tripod and Geocities allow remote linkings....

try renaming your .jpg files into .txt that might just do the trick.

No need to parse through the code to get the urls.

Just go to each picture properties (with IE, right click over the pic and choose "properties"), select and copy the URL. Thats it.

Hey Solid my man!

:buttrock:

I think the bandwith limit has been reached for your tripod site...

Hey! and nobody models garbage! First of all everyone has they're own style, second 3D modeling is a hard job and practice makes perfect! Keep trying! GO for IT! :wise:

work on details, your images are alright but need alot more detail to be really effective.

When you link to Geocities or Tripod or another free site, you can't simply click on the link to get to there. Instead you should move your cursor OVER the link, hold down your mouse button, and DRAG the link to your address bar, where you let go.

Modelling heads is difficult at the best of times - some people around here make it look easy but when you're starting out it can be hugely frustrating. As for advice - find yourself some good head tutorials or have a look at other people's meshes and get ideas on how things flow - there's a good link in the modelling section on head topology - go there and have a good long hard look at what other people are doing and what kinds of numbers of polys they're using to do it with. That'll be a good starting point - then go on and try it for yourself. Best advice I can give you - don't beat yourself up over it - you're just getting frustrated - if you get to that point, just leave the model maybe for a few days then come back to it because you tend not to model too well when frustrated. Also learn from your mistakes - find out where you're making errors and figure out the best ways to resolve them.

Best of luck.

Hi TSS,
Well mate I felt I had to reply as I've been in the exactly the same position. Actually you should feel happy your at this stage, because I think its just a naturally progression. Have a rest from modelling for a while and sit down again and you will see the difference.

About head modelling:
Well this is my obsession . From what I've heard about looking at flow in the face, there is really no such thing in reality. You'll find that the cg head with too much flow is unrealistic and lack character.
The other point I wanted to make is that its important to grasp the idea of plains in relation to the face and its features. Its a very simple idea , to my knowledge developed or maybe just advicated by loomis, and works everytime.
Ofcourse you have to take in to acount proportions but you already know that:)
If its alright to post this link it has the information I'm talking about: http://www.fineart.sk/ :
Also something I wish I had realised earlier on in the game , is to neglect topology research and thinking until the stages where your going to be animating. I know this is hard to do in most packages as the shape is directly related to the topology. The answer is Zbrush from Pixalogic. With this magnificent application you are able to sculpt with complete freedom , but more importanly you can produce the shape and detail you like without worrying about edge loops and flow.
Why this is such a powerful idea is that as someone has already mentioned modelling like everything else is about practice and experiment. ZB allows a confident user of its toolset to produce 5 6 quality heads in a single day. This means greater experiment and relfection on your abilities and faults.
I implor you to try ZB , take time to know it and it will become your best and smartest friend*("from the mummy returns").

Anyways , look at it this way if you were "not pissed off" that means you view your work as being perfect , better to be judgmental and critical with ones self at the learning stages of modelling then to be satisfied:)

peace

I couldnt see the pics so im not commenting in your work, but if you arent happy with multiple attempts, there comes a time to accept you may never be able to model a head. It's one of the hardest things to model. Also different people are good at different aspects of art. as an example someone I know is awesome with watercolours and pencils, but she cant draw cartoon characters for anything. Try some other things else you might frustrate yourself into quitting altogether. :)

Anyway, Solid Snake, I think you work looks good!

I think I know what you feel, cause when I look at, say, Stahlberg's work, it's really awesome and inspiring, but at the same time exhausting, cause it's like "well, gosh, how am I EVER gonna be that good?"

High goals, good spirit, and lots of practice, I guess is the answer...

Cheers!

thanx 4 your support...byt ...i had Zbrush but i didnt used it...i heard that it is good to model, but for animation i dont think it can be exported into 3dSmax correctly can it?(and with good performance cause i dunno if 1024 of ram are going to be enough for it)
