View Full Version : Landscape sketch : Sunset on Reunion Island

Hi,

This is a sketch i made for a christmas present poster. I wanted to create a peaceful atmosphere of a sunset in a place i consider to be paradise. The house belongs to my family and is located in Reunion Island , indian ocean.
I wanted to show the sketch before finishing the painting to gather good advice to improve it. So if you have any comments on composition or anything else that would make it better, go for it:)

Love the style. It is very peaceful and the warm colors feel great.


Only thing I could see is the tree doesn't cast a shadow and the lighting is a little too bright for the angle the viewer sees it.

The sunset is very "fake" looking, because the house is illuminated from an entirely different angle.

You should consider forgoing the sunset, with it's hard shadows and sharp angles, for a more evenly lighted time of day. I'd also get rid of the dark clouds. They look more like smoke than clouds.

The overall composition is pleansant and fairly balanced, with a nice flow. What a wonderful gift!
