Title: ANABERRY
Name: Scott Phillips
Country: Canada
Software: Maya, mental ray, Photoshop, ZBrush

Modeled in Maya 8, Sculpted in Zbrush 3, Textured using polypainting in Zbrush 3 and Photoshop and Mental Ray for rendering.

This character is very important to me ive put weeks of hard work into this because I went to the BCIT school over a year ago hoping my demo reel would get me into the video game industry here in Vancouver but to this day Iam still unsuccessful in landing a career. Ive spent countless nights stressed to the eyeballs trying to see what im doing wrong and this model is pretty much a way of me to redeem myself and show how my talent has improved....my past work is probably not that impressive but im here displaying this model proving im not giving up and that ill do this for decades and keep improving and adapting until i can get the job i have so constantly been dreaming of.

About the character:
Anaberry is a creature that likes to hide in dark wet industrial ruins, it is completely blind but can feel and sense things near by very accurately. Anaberry tends to get nervous whenever something approaches or stumbles in its path because it rarely interacts with other people, but when it does it acts like a wild animal thats cornered and tends to be the most vicious when it feels surrounded or in danger. I created this design from scratch and spent plenty of sketches deciding the final concept, alot of inspiration came from Silent Hill designs.
I picked the name Anaberry because its such a kind soft sounding name for such a deeply disturbed and creepy creature, it may have once been human but whatever human elements or behavior it had is now long gone and all that remains is a tormentedly disturbed creature.

Please let me know what you guys think I've worked very very hard on this character and if theres anything that any of you think needs improving i want to hear it.
Cheers.

Cool. Looks funny, yet scary. Nice mix of both :) I think the legs are missing one joint (knees). And it would look a lot cooler if the "thumbs" of the feet were attached to the leg a little higher. Nice texture though. 3*

Nice work, but again with this "alien form", human anatomy is the base model for it...
2 legs, 2 arms, a head...
He's even got pectoral muscles...
If you want to make your creations stand out in a crowd,
you need to be truly creative.
You obviously have the skills for it!

Thanks for the comments guys.
CanisLupus - Thanks, and he does have knees its just his legs are like ostrich legs they bend in the oppisite postion.
Bubbalo - Your right it is a humaniod figure thats for sure but i wanted to make it seem like it was once human and has transformed over the years into a hideous creature. So with that i had to keep it to a simple humanoid setting with one head, 2 arms and 2 legs but dont worry i have a bunch of sketches of more dynamic multilimbed creatures that i wish to bring to 3D life sooner or later.

After i posted the picture i tried a little colour alteration and came up with the same image with just a more cold wet feel to it with cooler colours, now that i think of it the orange and greens give it a warm feel.

Great model - definately go with the posed expressive version - it has much more power to him.

I think if you were to make a simple base for him to be standing on, it'd be a fantastic modeling portfolio piece.

Nice Job Scott,

I like the details and for some reason it reminds me the creature on "Pan's labyrinth" !
I think your character needs stronger muscles on hips(bigger)
and that's because the way the legs are now need more support to be stable.
and I think shoulders need stronger muscles as well.

Cheers
