View Full Version : Preferred video card for Game Development
GraphicAnime 12-27-2007, 11:01 PM Hi all,
I've searched around for information regarding 8800 GTX vs Quadro for 3d apps. I know there has been issues with the 8800 series. I going to get myself Quadro FX 1700, with 512 MB (which I believe is the minimum requirement for maya and 3ds max).
My question is about video game development. Is the Quadro FX series alright to use for game development, if I'm going to test these games out?
Thanks in Advance,

I just posted there about the new ati firegl v5600 which is around the same price as quadro fx 1700 possibly cheaper. I did quite some research myself , found the firegls better than the current quadros and I am waiting for my new system. I am buying my new system for game development and learning. Soon I will be getting an xbox 360 and try learning and using XNA express to test out my levels along with other pc gaming engines.
Lets see if it works out good enough with both games and applications and will let you know any issues when I test my new system. If you really want to play and test the games at its best and don't worry much about application performance you will find 8800 gtx better deal. But for me I was after performance in applications so I opted for the firegl v5600. Hopefully it should be decent overall.
