View Full Version : Caring for Wacom Tablets
ReddBaronn 12-27-2007, 07:04 PM I just got an Intuos3 6x11 tablet for my mac. My question is, how do I care for it? Specifically, how do I preserve the life of the actually touch sensitive surface? I have already found a slight imperfection. On the Wacom site, they offer replacement touch surfaces. By replacing this surface, does the tablet effectively return to "NEW" condition, or are there sensors underneath that can ware out too? Am I just being over-protective about all this?
Any answers would be much appreciated.

The smooth surface you draw on and is replacable is not touch sensitive, it is merely a protective layer. The sensors are underneath it.
You can get a new one slip mat if it starts to visibly wear down and its not smooth enough to draw properly. If there is something wrong with how the tablet is sensing the pen then I'd suggest contacting wacom, a new slip mat won't do anything in that case.
The tablets electronic is very tough and usualy holds longer than you care to use the tablet.
The main sensors and intelligence are in the pen though, not in the board.
Cheers
