View Full Version : Talented Artist Looking For Work!!!
excubitor 04-22-2003, 10:23 PM I have worked on three games, both highrender and realtime, I'm currently located in Europe/Sweden and need work for the period of june-september. (Perhaps even longer, certainly if you have a project longer than that).
I know a little of everything and are putting togheter material for a music video for a friend. I would love to freelance for anybody that got some work going and can pay for it, with enough money to get by - I give you quality.
(I also have a photographer-friend with a studio and can do some composite or other editing there).
I'm a fairly easy guy to get along with, can stand critique and feedback. The more the better.
Cheers,
Dan

For those that are interested and are in need of an artist for freelance work, drop me a private message and let us talk. We can then discuss reel material and work samples.

kinda a weird way of doing business dont you think?? Shouldnt you let potential employers have a taste of your work before they would be interested in hirering you. ITs like going to a restaurant without knowing whats on the menu =). God knows what your paying for. Bah.. just my opinion.. Hope your job hunting goes well..

Contacted with serious inquires regarding freelance-opportunities, foremost in gamedesign. I will submit work samples and may if requested do a small testproject for a potential employer to prove my worth. This testproject must be limited in scope and can't be used for commercial work unless agreed by me.

heh usually I'd never comment on any of these kinds of posts :) But it is true, artists are dime a dozen so to think most employers are actually going to take time out to chase you up to see if you're potentially worth it or not isn't too realistic.
I find it rare that at most places I work for they'll never even look at links to peoples work unless reffered by someone really good that they know, as usually they'll get so many damn reels that it's a chore enough just looking through all of the piles of tapes.
I'll leave it there as I'm just glad I decided not to keep the last two paragraphs of posts I just typed ;)

Ok, thanks for that insight. I put more work into the regular channels then. Perhaps that is the easier route to go, if it's true what you said. That seemss like the only way to go.
Best luck to you all...

Okay sorry if I do sound at all stubborn or arrogant. I find working for any company it's an equal exchange of services, so I hate companies who do see them selves as "you have to beg us for a job" kind of attitude, but at the same time, the freelancers and staff when approaching a company still do have to kind of play the "please hire me" role, even if you have 20 years of experience under your belt as otherwise you do come off as an arrogant shit :)
But what I meant to say but probably put it really badly is just if you do want to get work on a forum it's usually best to still sell yourself as there's thousands of artists out there, and you at least need to show that you stand out through your work rather than letting them chase your work down to find out for themselves as most tend to just move onto the next until they find someone who can say "hey here's my show reel, I have 4+ years in film ect" as it's like browsing a shopping list for the people you need.
Anyway hope that helps and good luck with the hunting!
