Hello all I´m a paintfx newbie and am desperate for some help.

I have some trouble with getting my paintFX to behave.
I Have the "floweringPea" brush and I´m animating it´s endbounds to make it grow. I works fine exept that the motion is a kind of jerky. My plant is growing approximatly 1 segment every second frame. Which makes it look like a timestretch. It doesn´t seem to help to increase the segments.

q1 - Is there a way to increase the number of segments of the branches now when the look of the plant is done, or do I have to
start from scratch and try to forsee how many segments I need to make a smooth movment. (just increasing segments seem to corrupt the look of my plant)

q2 - Is there a simple way to say that: all branches shall grow with 1 segment per frame, and it shall start to grow when the endbound spawns a new branch. ( now it seem like if I´m animating the endbound from 0 to 1 in 500 frames, The hole proccess of creating the induvidual branches goes slower than if I animate it over 200 frames.

It behaves the same way if I try to animate it with flow animation.

I´m new to paintFX and haven´t figured it all out yet, so if anyone have some hints or tips I´d be very thankful.

Best Regards
Niklas

what about animating the length max?

Thanks for your fast reply!

I tried to animate the max length, but max lenght affects all the branches globaly, I would like to animate the "stroke" separatly from the branche animation. Is that possible? Is there a way to controll the animation of the branches?

Best regards

There are hundreds of parameters ..I'm thinking you could animate several of the parameters to get this effects.. look for the ones named branch etc.

Yes, there sure is a lot of parameters in there :D
I solved the puzzel though, seems like PaintFX always animates 1 segment per frame, so If i want an animation of 200 frames, my flower must be atleast 200 segments.. When you have changed your flower to 200 segments you have to adjust all the size and curls and stuff for your, branches, twigs, leaves and flowers for it to look like it used too.. Then it animates smoothly.

A little bit scary if your creative director in the last minute tells you he wants his huge flowerfield to be animated during twice as long time...

Gotta get some sleep now..
cheers

Nope I was wrong, It didn´t work. It still draws 1 segment over 2 frames.
hints or tips are most welcome.

try saving the brush you made as a preset then delete the paintfx off the curve, then rebuild the curve with more segments and reapply the brush to it.

You don't need to rebuild the curve. Simply increase the sample density on the stroke and reduce the tubesPerStep by the same factor. This allows smoother end bound animation. It also affects the relative differential in growth speed between the stroke and the tubes when using flowAnimation.
