Hey akajork
I had a go at tweeking your pic but cant seem to upload the tweeks i did
Basicly i quickly masked the water area....im sure you have it on a seperate layer so you wont need to do that
I then aplied a ripple filter in photoshop to the water area
I then applied a picture of an ocean on a new layer with an opacity of 60% and the blending mode on overlay
Hope that gives you some ideas to play around with yourself
Cheers

wow thanks a lot dude! yea I think it looks way better but I dont nkow if the water is too busy now.. I wanted the water to be kinda quite and calm looking. So not many ripples.. but the reflection shows improvement indeed. I think Ill go try this out!
thanks a lot for your support:)

The problem is the scale of the ripples. They are way to big for the distance from camera. Scale them down and make a bit more subtle and you'll be almost there. Nice work!

nice composition here, I like the whole concept, and mood, but I think you need to adjust some issues, I agree with the comments above , about the rippleīs scale, also youīre miussing the sunīs highlight on the water, at that scale and depth the water should not reflect with that perfection, reflection should be broken by the same ripples, donīt forget the sunīs bloom in fornt of anything in your scene and surrounding the sun itself as a big orange glow, hereīs a photo reference I found that speaks better than me

I like what you did with your aereal perspective, but I would add more orange, magenta to the furthest city that should blend colors with the atmosphere in the background

Thanks a lot James for the comment! Im a huge fan of your work and follow your every move:) so let me say: thanks for having a look at my work!
As for you comments: I was thinking this scene had a very low sun (a sunrise) and therfore the sun wasnt in an angle good enough to get some good reflection on the water.. maybe Im wrong but I looked at some photos from the same time I wanted to recreate and thats what I saw.. also the orange glow in the sky is caused by a lot of atmosphere in the sky.. this is mostly the case in a sunset if Im right.. but there isnt enough color there I agree..
anyways Ill look into it and try some things:) thanks a lot for your advice! It means a lot!

I agree, this could be a great image with just a few tweaks. One thing I noticed is that the crescent lighting on the planets is not from the correct angle in regards to the sun. Since the sun is probably behind those moons, the crescents would probably be smaller, too.

Take the opacity of the reflection layer down slightly, and motion blur it downwards, that will help for a start. Then i think you could maybe add a layer mask and paint in a few areas where the reflection is broken, and paint in some shdow ripples over the whole water or use some photo ref for that.
Agree with the comment about the crescents. Although a crescent is always exactly 180 degrees, it does need to correctly comply to your light source.
Nice work, congrats!
