View Full Version : Animation: Bad Idea
Hi folks.
This one I did for university using Maya.
We had only 1 week from scratch to finish.

I hope our server survives this.
13.1 MByte DivX 5.03 format..720x576 (http://www.uni-weimar.de/~rehberg/gallery/pics/badidea/bad_idea.avi)
8.2 MByte Quicktime format...640x480 (http://www.uni-weimar.de/~rehberg/gallery/pics/badidea/bad_idea.mov)
Try right click + save as if it won't play completely. It should help.

I think that was a good idea. :)
Like that you used purely black and white. To give some strange illusions yet to get your message loud and clear.
Only crit would be that the character is moving strange. Not moving in a natural way.
Can this be made in flash somehow?

haha, great idea + style
simplistic yet entertaining :)
Thanks for the comments. I went for the look of handdrawn lines combined with camera movements. Something like a sketch in 3d.
Ac0rN: Both versions stopped? Do you have the divx 5.03 or higher? Older ones won't work.
Any more thoughts on this one?
Yah, the divx version crapped out on me too. And I just dl'ed 5.03 last week. It played for about 10 -15 seconds and then stopped. (Well to be detailed, Media Player 9 wouldn't play it, divx player alpha played and stopped, realplayer played and stopped with corrupt data error.) QT version plotzed for me too...

Works fine for me =). Course I'm using DivX 5.0.4. Like the style but I agree with the above comment that the animation can be improved upon.

The larger download gets to about 4mb then stops, won't resume, and still does this after 10+ download attempts...

the whole thing downloaded for me, it is interesting. The circle can be used in so many things...

great job! really imaginative, especcially for one week.
Only problem i have was the camera shaking. I dont think ya needed it and it kinda gave me a headache. Had the whole "Blair witch" effect.
Thanks again guys.
A friend of mine reported the same downloading problems when just left-clicking the links. But right-click + save as worked fine. So please try that.
comfortablydumb: There is no camera shaking in the film. I guess you played the quicktime in your browser by left clicking the link. Use the quicktime player or watch the divx and there will be no shaking - that's just a little bug in quicktime + IE I think.

Hmmm, thats a pretty funky glitch, never seen that before. Ok then I retract my earlier whining. Great Job!
:D That's Apples fight against the MS machine. I didn't believed it until I saw it the first time. Some scaling issues I guess.
Anyway, glad you all liked it.
