Hi all...

I've been messing around with different ways of using HDRI imagery. I mainly want to use Renderman (from Maya) as my renderer. I followed their tutorial on IBI but when I give it a .hdr image the render comes out pretty dark. Playing with the Luminosity doesn't help since that goes back to the actual color of the shader and not the HDR influence. I've also tried playing with the different reflections but I haven't had any luck.

Has anyone gotten HDR to work well in Renderman and would you be willing to share a few tips/steps of how you got it to work?

thx - its very much appreciated :)

Use the template in the Pixar forums a customer posted. IBI is... well... demo crap.

I understand your feelings about IBI but I can see some good uses for it and HDRI. I've gotten some satisfactory results in Mental Ray but now I'm trying to push more on the Renderman side.

Thanks again and if anyone else has any input they want to share that would be great

Hey I'm going to bump this here just in case someone has any additional ideas.

I've basically ended up with really dark renders coming out of Renderman using HDR imagery. In HDRShop (or any other HDR editor) the images are beautiful and all the exposure levels are there. In renderman they come in dark and the renders are dark. Has anyone seen this problem or does anyone have any solutions?

Thanks so much - it is very appreciated!
