THATS RIGHT

Translucent is here the pro version finally made it, and if you think the free version was nice the proversion is ten times better, far more advanced, special skin mode, and it supports TRANSPERENCY

for another example check out this thread here, images may not load as my server sucks right now, I wll post a few more when my server is back to normal tomorrow.

how long did it take to render that last image on that that thread?, quite nice results although the fingers look a little odd in a couple of those images, I might buy this one aswell :D

thing to note on my renders is they are not using the skin mode, mine are using the norma mode (two with transperency) which is better for really deep translucent objects like glass and some plastics. thie fingers being so thin block very little of the light from going through. If I used the skin shader they light wouldn't go through like that.

how long to render though? :)

Another pic with very subtle use of Arndt's great translucency shader (and Paul's Wire Shader):

I hit the paypal link and it comes up as 30 euros--which is pretty close to USD I believe.

this is very cool...i remember seeing some early test renders guys had done while it was being developed...very cool then.

AdamT: hey bud nice render...but if i was you i'd take time out to visit the doctor...and get those lines sorted out...they musta hurt some!!! just messing with ya man... . how about a full render of yuorself without the mesh showing cos its looking very real....

Thanks Joel and Flingster. Regarding the lines--yeah, tatoos can be painful if you take sufficient liquid anaesthesia.

Wouldn't that be the ultimate 3D geek act? Tatooing a wireframe on your face? :) Worse than the LW/Maya/XSI tatoos I believe.

the lengths people goto to get reference material!! tattooing a mesh on your head....jeez man thats dedication...:wip:

(i like the liquid anaesthesia part though... )

Yeah--then people will come up to you and critique your mesh:

"AHA--do I see TRIANGLES!!?"

"What? No edge loops!?"

To wife/girlfriend, etc:
"why darling, I've never seen such lovely subdivision in a pair of lips before. You have such a dense mesh" ...followed by either a blank stare or a slap in the face.

how about this one

ohh your SSS faking translucency plugin is just so stunning. but is that texture streching I see.

also followed by a blank stare and a slap.

Well, Your Honour, see, this guy comes and starts insulting my mesh, so I rearranged his, but I was careful enough to adapt the UV map too...:D

These are the things you tell your children to scare them from getting tattoos! "Listen son, you go out and get drunk, and next thing you know you'rel stuck with half-assed edge loops for the rest of your life! You'll never get a job in CG!"

Just had to get this thread back on target. :p
