To the members of the DSF I apologize for breaking the fourth wall on this one. (And sorry for the delay of this post, it has been one of those days)

Six months ago I was invited to Florida to attend the wedding of friend I have known since college. In the almost 17 years I have known Tom he has always done thing by beat of his own drum. He is am musical theater performer works in a really cool job at Electronics Arts in Florida. When he meet his soon to be wife Stephanie, it was like lighting in a bottle.

And their weeding reflected their eclectic as their spirit. It was a fun non-denominational affair at a lake in Orlando. Jodi, my girlfriend agreed with me that it had been one of the most unique weddings she had ever been to.

Now lets flash forward to today....

Two weeks ago, without warning Stephanie fell into a deep coma
After a brain scan they found out that a stoke killed her brain instantly.
Two nights ago she passed away after her respirator was turned off.

I am posting this thread for my friend Tom,...

Here are tom an Steph in happier times.

THE BAB'S TREE
(Oh, Beautiful Orange Tree)
by Laurie Early

There once was a beautiful orange tree,
to a sacred home it gave it's shade.
There once was a beautiful orange tree,
how I wish that's where it could have stayed.

It had grown so tall and proud
that it could almost touch the sun
a symbol of the love that we
should feel for everyone.
Oh, beautiful orange tree
(Oh, beautiful orange tree.)

There once was a beautiful orange tree,
that bore its fruit for all who came.
There once was a beautiful orange tree,
and sheltered pilgrims from the rain.

It had grown so tall and proud
that it could almost touch the sun
a symbol of the love that we
should feel for everyone.
Oh, beautiful orange tree
(Oh, beautiful orange tree.)

There once was a beautiful orange tree,
and the pilgrims took the oranges home.
There once was a beautiful orange tree,
and they saved the seeds to grow their own.

It had grown so tall and proud
that it could almost touch the sun
a symbol of the love that we
should feel for everyone.
Oh, beautiful orange tree
(Oh, beautiful orange tree.)

There once was a beautiful orange tree,
but some who did not understand,
killed the beautiful orange tree,
and a sadness swept throughout the land.

It had grown so tall and proud
that it could almost touch the sun
a symbol of the love that we
should feel for everyone.
Oh, beautiful orange tree
(Oh, beautiful orange tree.)

There once was a beautiful orange tree,
but it will grow again someday.
There will be a beautiful orange tree,
and under its branches we will stay.

and, it will grow so tall and proud
that it will touch the sun
a symbol of the love that we
will feel for everyone.
Oh, beautiful orange tree
(Oh, beautiful orange tree.)

I just wished I was a better artist to really display it better. Very sad stuff indeed though.

It's been a long time since I browsed these threads, but on seeing this thread, I knew I had to do something. I apologise for the lateness of the entry, and I'm not fussed over whether or not it gets into voting, what mattered was getting an image done. I hope it's okay. My sincerest condolences to friends and family, but most of all to Tom. Stay strong and take comfort from the fact you'll see her again some day. Remember the good times, and keep her memory burning bright.

Done in photoshop, took about 3 hours.

I am so sorry to hear about this Roberto and I wish I was at home to be able to paint something (even though I normally don't participate in the DSG because I just am a sissy to try to join..)

My condolences to everyone who knew the involved persons.
