View Full Version : dwg to sweep nurbs problem
maikukai 12-21-2007, 03:58 PM I imported a dwg of a parking lot and want to take the lines and sweep them into curbs using the Sweep Nurbs and the profile of a curb. Problem is none of the lines from the dwg are connected. Every little curve is a separate spline. Connecting them doesn’t work, it just gives me a ton of segments in one spline object. Is there any way to connect 50 splines from a dwg into one continuous spline? Or would it be easier to just redraw the entire parking lot in C4D?

You can connect start/end points manually in the multisegment spline using the Structure->Edit Spline->Join Segment command, just make sure to have the two end points selected.
Having multiple segments doesn't stop you from being able to sweep them by the way (and in theory I guess you could even replace the existing DWG Nurbs profile curve in the object itself, provided you imported with Nurbs on), so maybe you should dry just sweeping the connected spline first to see what the output is like (don't forget to turn off caps).

hi maikukai,
although i've upgraded to 10.5, i didn't had a chance to import a .dwg file yet, but what if you use the BO (make boundary) or PE (polyline edit) commands in autocad, in order to have a single polyline?
can that single polyline recognized as a single object in c4d?
cheers,
george
