With a mouse??? Thats CRAZY!! Very nice work.
If anything I'd suggest droping a nice background behind her, then it would really be cookin
Just my 2 cents.
Keep up the good work.

Would it be possible to see some WIP shots? Judging by your other work you're good but I dunno about being this good especially with a mouse and in 12hrs, with just dodge & burn? I dunno

If this is all drawn you have some alien talent with creases and highlights not to mention eye hand coordination.

Just watch out for RSI. Especially when your wrists hurt already.
Great pic by the way. Very amazing that you did it al with the mouse.:)

yes i did this myself, from scratch and using my eyes not tracing the pic. it's really rewarding to hear that it looks that realistic. Thank You
below here are some W.I.P. and comparison shots, I did the drawing an inch at a time.. somethings you can zoom on on and see I changed or couldnt reproduce exactly. My wife would vouch for me as she had to watch me sit here for several days :P

also you can see i just didnt do everything exactly like the real one....

04-22-2003, 07:01 PM
well..... so... finish those guns, they're drastically cutted for no reason, well for the name of movie, but......
"just didnt do everything exactly like the real one...."
so finish those damn guns and her legs for god sake!! its your art......

"so finish those damn guns and her legs for god sake"
well cgbinho, i did this piece in 1024X768 size (just cropped to show you guys) because it's going to be my load page for my website. I want the body cutoff to be like the poster on www.thematrix.com to look like it but also have my touch of colorless-ness (that a word?) i like the color contrast and that the leather jacket has the same tones as the flesh, just looks cool to me. No i don't lie, this was all hand drawn, not traced :P ever since I was 6 I knew tracing felt weird and just wrong. Thanks for the compliments once more, I wouldnt mind doing more of these but it took almost a day (18 hours) lil dragon not 12 that I may have mentioned :) it's mine yes, it's all hand drawn with mouse yes, a background is all i'll fix on it if I touch it again. Cheers:beer:

No offense, but I'm gonna call you a liar here. Sorry, but it's true. You didn't paint those clothes from scratch. I'd believe the head and hands (which would still be impressive). Just deffinately not the clothes. ;)

04-22-2003, 10:29 PM
well you just needa look at the details... lol why would I lie? say i get a job as an artist from this piece, wouldn't they expect me to be able to do it? i'd be fired asap if it wasnt real. anyway here's a zoom so you can all see lil flaws i may have missed and that i used the dodge tool. It's a huge compliment and I won't hold any comments against anyone, thanks again :)

Then why did you stop just before the "Matrix Reloaded" text?
-I can see how this sounds like I'm being mean and accusing you of poor skill, which is not my intentions. (sorry if it sounds like that)
-May I ask that you finish her pants at least to her ankles to give satisfactory proof that you did her clothes entirely?
-Great job on the face by the way.

Goatfuzz: I stopped where I did because i had a layout of 1024X768 picture, where i began to draw the basic shape of the picture reference on... it ended where it did because i ran out of space. In my honest opinion, I wanted to show the guns more but thats where i sized it where i wanted the head and body so i ended with a pretty cropped shot :P I can finish the legs, but it'll be a while. I spent almost a whole days time spread out over 4 days. 18 hours total! so i'm pretty burned out and happy at the same time, it takes a lot of time and discipline and I have no problem drawing the rest, but i need a break lol my wife has had great patience with my quest to work in games and i just need a break for a week or so (i'll probably model now for bit then come back) I wish you'd believe me, but then again it's not really important because I spent a lotta heart and time into this, and it's original (except for concept/idea of course) thanks, I take criticism fine... it doesnt upset me that many disbelieve :) free your mind -peace :)

If those clothes weren't done from scratch I would say to alter them to make them what they are now would probably take as long!
Great picure, well done!
rant
As I side note, I really feel it is purely bad manners to call someone a liar in the face of their work - if you don't feel it is worth praising or you do not have any words of experience to help an artist improve then say nothing at all because calling someone a liar helps nobody.
This kind of comment reminds me of a comment Leigh (of all people) made the other day/week about a persons post being a retouched photo passed off as art. This kind of comment really comes across as plain spite and makes the accuser sound like a child in a playground rather than a responsible critic.

Notroublehere: I really appreciate that :) when people say "liar" i know they're just frustrated because they "think" someone has copied work and wants praise for their lack of effort. It didnt offend me at all and i appreciate your comments. The proportions are so off if you mirrored the real one over mine it wouldnt match up. You'll see more high quality work from me in the future. :)

once i get this load page of Niobi up it'll just be www.steveroyer.com

In case you didn't notice, I wasn't the only one who said that in that thread. To me, it looked like a photo paintover, and I am as entitled to my opinion as anyone else. It was my critique, and I am totally entitled to that.
Blud_Stane - very cool image, well done
The Dodge and Burn tools are my favourites as well :)

really cool,
but what's the purpose of this?
I mean you should post something totally original , your own work..
But your work is really nice!:applause:

I like it, and without the closeups, I already saw differences (your images shoulders are too wide for one). As for the cry of "make an original piece", I tell ya to just ignore 'em. There's nothing wrong with making an image you like be it a remake of something or not. I don't see anyone yelling, "make an original piece" to the wonderfully modeled Frost Giant post...that is based off of a painting (and apart from some missing fur and feathers, is exact in it's copying).
So, if you like recreating pictures or characters, go for it. It doesn't mean you're any less talented than anyone else here. Fan art is fan ART and is as valid as anything "made up".
Excellent work and I think you've earned an award!

Perhaps many of you misinterpreted my post. I think it is awesome that Blud_Stane could create an image with quality that someone would have to debate to believe. I didn't come here to offend anyone and I'm deeply sorry if I had done so. If you hadn't noticed, I did give a possitive comment. :D

Leigh: ty, also used the pencil but very little
yoyo2k1: I did this because my portfolio needed it and I was inspired from the picture, thats all i needed for motivation.
Teyon: TY! Glad someone sees differences hehe, that's a good point. Art is anything to anyone. As far as an award, i don't know :) hehe but I entered into the Expose' which I'm sure it wont make cause i didnt make a background :( heh ty tho
Goatfuzz: It's all good man ~ i never took offense, glad you liked something outta my post. :) or disliked also hehe it's art to me
