View Full Version : animation: intro video
SquirrelyJones 04-22-2003, 03:05 AM I'm pretty happy with it so I probably won't change anything, but feel free to crit so I know what to do better next time. This is the intro video to a CD business card for my company, that last frame will be the backround for the rest of the app if any one wonders why it stops so abruptly.

I was digging the water until the bubbles that rise when we enter the water. First of all, they look extremely poor compared to the water itself, second, I think they aren't necessary, I think of Saving Private Ryan these days when I see shots like this and I don't think they had bubbles, not that you have to emulate that but it was extremely well done and all, and live action after all.
Also, the mines are a little odd, it looks like maybe you composited them in on top of the water? I would suggest some more depth of focus, regardless of how you did it, and maybe some more motion in the chains or something.
Lastly, the water texture and rain look excellent but the waves seem too small, more like snow moguls than waves. I'd suggest either decreasing the elevation of the waves or increasing their width.
Overall, very cool.
Oh, and read the forum rules and change your post topic so it doesnt get deleted by an admin.

The seascape reminds me of a tutorial that appeared in the Computer Arts magazine about a year ago. ;) Did you use it as a reference?:curious:

I think I saw that tutorial, it was for lightwave though and this is done in 3d studio, I cant figure out for the life of me how to get mist to blow off the top of the waves, gues I 'll have to figure out how to write those scripts. There should be a larger set of waves manipulating the current set, but I don't think the average Jo will notice. Thanks for the crits and comments.
